Good morning. David Woodward, wine merchant of 45 years. My sons and I, 15 years ago or so, decided, when John, my older son, went down to South Africa, to be in the wine business. We decided to cooperate with another English fellow, down in Stellenbosch, the heart of the South African wine region, that we would produce a range of wine that our customers, by experience, would be delighted with.
We came up with our own name, which is Catchpole & Co. There's a dragon as the 'and', and the dragon is a keeper of secrets.
We have three whites, basically three reds, a Sauvignon Blanc, a Chenin Blanc and a beautiful unoaked Chardonnay.
On the reds, we have a wine that tickles my fancy. It's called Le Gagnet or the winner. It's a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon that was made with our English associate down in Stellenbosch, and his French partner. Tasted umpteen different wines, and we came up with this beautiful Cabernet.
We have also another one, a blend from the Black River Red. It's called Les Dangereux. It's so easy to drink. You have to be careful. It could be dangerous and we have a variety of others.
